We’re back with another month-long retrospective. 1999 remains one of the most interesting years in cinema history, not only because of the hidden gems that grew in the public consciousness but because the blockbuster movies were actually great. It’s a year that mixes high art and low art, animated films and live-action. Far smarter people have written incredible pieces/books on the year. Even by accident, we’ve written a few ourselves. So now it’s time for us to start our own deep dive into a year that helped to define the modern era at the megaplex.
