The most recent film from Quentin Tarantino looked to take the lead in the Oscar race. With wins for Best Picture Comedy/Musical, Screenplay and Supporting Actor for Brad Pitt, Tarantino’s latest got a boost. On the Drama side, 1917 emerged as another potential frontrunner to consider. With wins for Best Picture Drama and Director Sam Mendes, it assuredly joined the horse race to finish out the year. The British war film releases next Friday.

Meanwhile, Rocketman scored two wins for its Original Song (by Elton John and Bernie Taupin) and Taron EgertonJoker also pulled two big prizes, winning for Best Actor and Best Score. Laura Dern became the sole representation for nominee leader, Marriage Story. Dern’s win in Supporting Actress all but clears the path for her to win the Oscar.
