It’s time for San Diego Comic-Con, an annual event where we get with our friends and feel pissed that we couldn’t go to SDCC once again. Rather than feel like Sisyphus and trying to keep up with the non-stop trailer releases, we’re going to collect as many trailers as possible here.  Check out some of the great trailers we’ll get. Also, check out the “Titans” trailer.

“Better Call Saul” is Back!

It’s been way too long. A slight delay meant no “Better Call Saul” last year, and honestly, it’s a good move to take your time. But the show is one of the best on all of television. Maybe it’s been obscured by the greatness of “Breaking Bad,” but “Better Call Saul” is really one of the top 3 or 4 shows on all of television. With a return in a few weeks, it’s time we jump back into the life of Jimmy McGill and his friends on the dark side of the law. – AF

“Doctor Who” Unveils the New Doctor

In Fall 2018, audiences will finally get the female “Doctor Who” they’ve been clamoring for. Actress Jodie Whittaker takes center stage in the trailer, providing the narration for the events on screen. While the internet continues to throw a fit, this looks absolutely delightful. The footage we do get is promising, and the cast looks like they’ll be fun. Get ready for a new “Doctor Who” that is about to take Nerd culture by storm. – AF

“Doctor Who” is slated to return this Fall.

Godzilla: King of the Monsters”

Technically this is a pre-SDCC movie tease, but let’s be real, you’re hyped. Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) is now in the Monster-verse and is ready to see Godzilla murder some people. This film is technically a sequel but does not appear to have any characters in common. Instead, we’re getting a whole new cast (thank god) and lots of fun monster fighting. At least we hope so. Fingers crossed for this one. – AF

UPDATE: We later got a real trailer instead of a teaser. This one showcases more monsters from traditional Godzilla lore in fun ways. The film draws some strong resemblance to “Super 8” but doesn’t look quite stylized or as well made. Even so, sign me up. Hopefully, we get more Godzilla this time around. – AF

“Iron Fist” Season 2

Doubling down is one way to go with “Iron Fist.” Many fans of the Marvel shows on Netflix say that “Luke Cage” season 2 helped to fix the problematic superhero. To be fair, the first season was so bad that it was barely watchable. So if there’s going to be a quality increase, that’s the least surprising thing of the year. – AF

“Iron Fist” Season 2 is scheduled to release on September 7th, 2018.

“Mayans M.C.” – The Mayans are BACK!

If you were like me, you were overhyped about “Sons of Anarchy” when it was on. Yeah, it was insane. Yeah, it went off the tracks. But it was sure as hell entertaining. I’m excited to see the Mayans side of things, especially because I found them far more interesting on the original show than the Sons. I hope showrunner Kurt Sutter can figure this out and we won’t just get racial stereotypes of the characters. I’d argue it’s a positive step to get the perspective and should allow for some interesting characters to pop in from time to time.  – AF

Nightflyers, a.k.a. the reason GRR Martin will never finish the books.

Ok “Nightflyers,” I see you won’t let us post the trailer on the page. Whateves. It looks fine. Supremely fine. Expecting this to be “The Strain” at best. – AF

“Star Wars: The Clone Wars” Is BACK!!!

Brilliant move from Disney to roll back into the game with “The Clone Wars.” The show is absolutely awesome, and with a built in fan base, should please most Star Wars fans. I know that Josh enjoyed the show and followed it way better than I did, but even so, I know how popular the series was. Great move on Disney’s end. – AF

“Titans” Debuts DC Universe Streaming

Oh boy. Where to begin with this one? This feels like a huge misstep for DC and looks really really bad. Like the worst, one could imagine. My god. “Fuck Batman.” That’s the best you could come up with? Yup, this does not look good. Tone is off, acting looks terrible, and special effects are scary bad. Get ready for a bad version of “Riverdale” that murders your good feelings toward “Teen Titans.” What a misstep.

“Titans” is debuting…who cares? – AF

“The Walking Dead” Keeps Shambling On

The situation is simple. Either you’re still in on “The Walking Dead” or you’re not. As someone who hasn’t watched the show since season 4, I can’t speak much to where the show is at now, but the long trailer is sure to excite fans of the franchise. – AF

“Shazam” Brings Much Needed Levity (and fun) to The DC Cinematic Universe

Dare I say it? It’s 2018 and I am excited about a DC superhero movie. Shazam looks great they totally nailed the tone of the comics and it looks like it is going to be a much needed break from the gray and drab snooze-fest we are so used to getting. Zachary Levi looks like he is having a blast as the titular character and it is great seeing the “It” kids finding work. – A.A.RON

M. Night Shyamalan Continues His Unique Superhero Vision with “Glass”

What an incredible comeback story. On the brink of obscurity, thought of as a joke or a one-hit-wonder, M. Night shocked the world with two big hits out of nowhere. First with “The Visit” and more recently (and much more successfully) with “Split”. Glass is the next film in an unofficial trilogy almost 2 decades in the making. Starring Samuel L. Jackson, James McAvoy, and Bruce Willis (who looks like he is trying for the first time in ages) this looks to be one of the most talked about trailers coming out of SDCC. -A.A.RON

Aquaman

Once again, the “World of DC” gets dark (literally in most scenes. Seriously, can someone turn on a light?). However, it’s undeniable there’s more spectacle this time around, even if there is an overabundance of CGI here. That’s to be expected when characters have to spend significant amounts of time underwater. Black Manta looks pretty dope, but there are still some real questions here. It’s better than a lot of DC products have looked, but “Shazam” was the winner of the DC panels. – AF

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

Any Potter fan should be pretty excited about this one. The last film, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” opened up the Wizarding World in unexpected ways. It was an exciting ride and showed that a wizarding story doesn’t need Harry Potter to be fun. This film looks like more of the same. Even though Johnny Depp is still cringe-worthy in most of his scenes, the rest of the cast looks fire. I’m excited to see how they explain Ezra Miller back into the franchise. Finally, I’m VERY excited about Jude Law as Dumbledore. This should be a fun ride, and having quality actors on board should continue to help the franchise grow. Plus we get some creepy Nicholas Flimmel. That was good. -AF

Often the best stories for DC characters have been told through animation. This could be because the medium bodes well for characters who are godlike. Almost like it makes their acts more believable, as opposed to the CGI messiness we get with some of the other movies. Dating back to the ’90’s with “Batman: The Animated Series” DC animation has been undeniably good. Now we get another awesome season of another awesome show. “Young Justice” is everything you want from your cartoon heroes and more. If you haven’t seen it before, it’s time to check it out. – AF
